Impressions:
For those of you skipping ahead to the rating, this is by no means a bad movie, but it's only so-so by my reckoning. The main thing that elevates this movie is Charles Laughton. He's not quite as bombastic as some of his roles, but it's interesting seeing him play a somewhat mousy clerk steadily breaking down from the guilt of his crimes. It's okay and if you're a fan of Laughton, you have a little extra reason to watch this, but I wouldn't call it a must-see.
