RoboCop 3 (1993)

RoboCop 3 (1993)

Director: Fred Dekker
Starring: Nancy Allen, Robert John Burke, Mario Machado

Synopsis:
After merging with a ruthless Japanese corporation, OCP employs a private army to clear out the residents of the city to make way for the development of Delta City, but this conflicts with RoboCop's directives to serve the public trust and protect the innocent.

Impressions:
This is a very silly, very stupid movie. Yes, I'm cutting right to the chase and it's tempting to cut the review short with that. Whereas RoboCop 2 was an inferior but nevertheless decent sequel, RoboCop 3 is everything you dread about sequels, trivializing prior entries, showcasing inferior writing and production values, etc. If you're deeply invested in RoboCop, this movie will hurt. If you're a little less attached, then you can probably manage to laugh at some of the many dumb moments. I fit in the latter category and it's only because I was able to get some laughs out of this that I rate it higher than I would otherwise. If you don't think you can laugh at this trainwreck, then avoid it. Otherwise, get a chuckle out of Robo driving Barbie's pimpmobile, which isn't even the most ridiculous thing you'll see. (Yes, I'm serious.) Part of me at least wants to be glad to see the main theme return, but this movie really isn't worth it. Also, I will say that Robert John Burke at least bears some physical resemblance to Peter Weller and Mako was pretty cool as the president of Kanemitsu, but that's about all the praise I can give to the acting. If you want a sequel to RoboCop, go with the Korean fried chicken commercial. You can take that one a little more seriously.
