Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1951)

Director: Albert Lewin
Starring: James Mason, Ava Gardner, Nigel Patrick
Synopsis:
A capricious woman with a habit of playing with men's hearts is drawn to a man who is none other than the legendary Flying Dutchman.
Impressions:
This is a fairly interesting character study. It's fun watching the cruel caprice of Ava Gardner's character run smack into someone (more or less) immune to her usual bag of tricks. James Mason's performance is particularly strong in his character's backstory. The dynamics of the romantic quadrangle that develop were also fairly interesting. I don't think it's a film for everyone, but the highlights make up for the slower parts and make it worth seeing.
