Pat and Mike (1952)

Pat and Mike (1952)

Director: George Cukor
Starring: Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, Aldo Ray

Synopsis:
A PE teacher becomes a sports star under the guidance of a less than ethical manager.

Impressions:
Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn are always good together. I never realized that Hepburn was such a good athlete in real life. This movie was basically made for the purpose of "Look what Kate can do!" A common theme in a lot of Hepburn's roles, one of the biggest struggles is Pat expressing her independence while her fiancé does nothing but try to keep her down. It's interesting how she locks up around said fiancé but is so driven otherwise. Aldo Ray is also fairly amusing as the slow-witted boxer Davie Hucko. This film is also notable for being Chuck Connors' first credited film role and one of the early credited film roles for Charles Bronson (back when he was using his real name). It's an entertaining film and definitely worth watching.
